Betel Furniture is one of the charitable businesses run by Betel of Britain. As a caring, not-for-profit Christian community in the heart of the UK, Betel of Britain is dedicated to restoring homeless and substance dependent people to productive, independent lifestyles.
Betel is the largest recycler of furniture in the Birmingham area.
Our centres are not only drug and alcohol free but free of charge as well, as we aim to be as self supporting and sustainable as possible.
Residents help to fund their own recovery by working in Betel Furniture or one of our other charitable businesses. This significantly reduces the financial burden on their families and the government while restoring self dignity and a sense of purpose. The result is that, on leaving Betel, they contribute positively to their own family life and society.
Meaningful work is vital to long term recovery. Daily teamwork helps to build job skills, diligence, punctuality, dependability, self esteem and respect for supervisors. The work provided in Betel's workshops or businesses include furniture repair, restoration and upholstery, house removals and clearances, garden maintenance and landscaping, painting and decorating, charity shop retail sales and vehicle repair.
Homelessness and substance abuse continue to escalate in the UK. In keeping with our pattern of growth in Spain and other nations, Betel is committed to expanding into every major city in the UK and Ireland as properties and funding become available.
